INTERN BIOS
Affordable counseling provided by Master level practicum students and LPC Interns under the supervision of Lori Vann, LPC-S. Services will be provided in the suite 119, right next to Ms. Vann's office. Interns receive weekly individual supervision, group supervision, & case note audits to verify that clients are receiving the best ethical care possible.
Reasons why you should use a LPC Intern for Counseling:
Affordability-- No intern session is over $60 a visit. It would be quite difficult to find a fully licensed counselor who charges less than $65 a session, for that matter, many interns at other counseling centers in Dallas and Tarrant Cty. are charging over $85 a visit. The Interns' prices are often times equal to or even less than what your co-pay would be to see a specialist on your insurance plan. Plus, your insurance will not know why you decided to come to counseling nor will you get an unpleasant surprise when they deny your visit because they do not cover certain therapies or diagnoses. Be aware of what your insurance policy covers and does not cover. Some insurance plans do not cover marital or family therapy nor do they cover Mood Disorders, Impulse Control Disorders, and some Learning Disability Disorders. In these cases, seeing an intern is a great option.
December SPECIAL: In order to help those who have had their deductibles or co-pays increase with the new year, the Interns are offering a special price of $45 for the Intake and $42 for each subsequent session. Vann Counseling Associates believes that counseling should not be a luxury item and that if individuals need a qualified person to talk to that they should have access to an ethical, caring individual at a very reasonable price. This offer expires on December 31, 2011.
Schedule flexibility: Some interns will work on weekends and many will work evenings. With 4 interns to choose from, there is one who will meet your scheduling needs.
Each case is supervised by a counselor with over 13 years of experience and has a reputation in the community as providing excellent client care, so it is like you are getting 2 counselors for the price of one!
Introducing 2 New Counselors to Vann Associates: Cristyn and Kristie-Cristyn Rohloff, LPC-Intern: B.A. in Psychology from Southern Methodist University and a M.A. in Professional Counseling from Amberton University.
Areas that Cristyn likes to work with include: Pre-adolescent and Adolescent female and women's issues, eating disorders, self-esteem issues, body image, Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, grief, families who have lost a child to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), military families, communication skills, and personal growth-life changes issues.

Areas that Nanette likes to work with include: Anxiety Disorders, sexual & physical abuse histories, low self-esteem, anger issues, sexual identity issues, Adjustment Disorders, divorce recovery, grief, behavioral issues with kids & teens as manifested at school and home, communication issues amongst teens & parents. She will also start to work with self-injurers. Nanette is currently working on developing a support group for those who have recently been diagnosed with HIV.
Types of therapies offered: Individual and Family Counseling. For children, play & art therapy techniques are intertwined into the counseling.

-Narmeen Rupani, LPC-Intern: B.A. in Psychology from UNT and a M.A. in Community Counseling from Argosy University.
Areas that Narmeen likes to work with include: Mood Disorders (Depression, Bipolar), victims and survivors of domestic violence and other types of abuses, those struggling with self-esteem issues, stress management, relationship issues in couples and families, crisis management & intervention, and academic issues. She has also started to work with self-injurers.
Types of therapies offered: Individual, Family, Couples, and Group. Narmeen is now certified to administer the PREPARE-ENRICH Pre-marital and Marital assessments. She is also starting a parent-child relational play therapy class, contact her for more details and special pricing. In February, Narmeen and Dr. Jon Shepard will start a social skills group for students with learning disabilities including Autism, Asperger's, and ADHD. You must contact Narmeen to set up an evaluation. There will be 10 sessions and pricing is less than $25 per session with a discount for those who prepay for all 10 visits. You are getting 2 counselors working with your child for one very low price.
