Women's Self-injury Group Feb. 6th in Carrollton at 10:30a
After many requests from my clients, their parents, counselors, and other individuals in the community, I have decided to start a therapy/support group for those who self-injure.
The group is designed for teenage males and females, ages 13 to 18, and women who need extra support as they try to deal with and overcome their urges to self-injure. It is also a place where people can share what coping skills have been helpful for them in addition to learning new skills from the therapist. The group is part therapy and part support group.
The goals of the group are emotional support, education, and intervention. All participants will be asked to sign a counseling contract that outlines the rules of the group and what is expected of its participants. They will also fill out an intake form to assess whether or not they may be appropriate for group. The group will be run by a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor who has an extensive history of working with those who have participated in self-abuse. An LPC Intern may also be present during the group in order to help facilitate the group and/or give the group members an opportunity to speak with someone should they need to temporarily leave the group.
FYI: Adult females who have a history of self-injury, including facial or body picking/tweezing, intentional cuticle ripping for pain or as a distraction.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Those interested in the group MUST E-Mail or Call and REGISTER for the GROUP, as SPACING IS LIMITED. THIS IS NOT AN OPEN GROUP, girls must call and speak with Lori Vann first before attending the group. E-mail: Lori@lorivann.com or CALL During Business Hours: 214-270-6966 to register
Meets every other Saturday
Duration: 75 minutes

Location: Carrollton Church of Christ 4228 Josey Lane, Carrollton, 75010
Directions: The Carrollton Church of Christ is in a 1 story, Austin stone building that used to be a bank building. There is a sign with the church's name near the street; the building is shared by a legal group. There is a large star on the building. I will try to have signage out for the group, but the landlords and lawyers no longer allow me to hang a sign on the columns or have yard signs, so the signs will most likely be on my car. The church is right next door to the Carrollton Library and across the street from the Baylor Medical complex.
If you are coming from The Colony, Main street becomes Josey Lane; head south until you come to the intersection of Hebron and Josey. You will need to do a U-turn to get to the church at that intersection.
If you are coming from Frisco--take 121 to the Main street exit, turn left and go under the tollway. Main street becomes Josey, follow the above directions after that point.
If you are headed from Plano, you can take Park and head west. Park bcomes Hebron. Make a right at Hebron and Josey and you will see the library and then the church on the right hand side.
If you are headed from Lewisville, take I-35 south and you can either come via Hwy 121 or the Round Grove/Hebron exit. 121 becomes a tollroad, but not until after the Hebron exit. From Hebron Parkway, you head east until you reach Hebron and Josey and make a left at that intersection.
If you are headed from Irving, take I-35 north or you can take George Bush headed east, either way you will eventually come upon Highway 121. Take the 121 tollroad exit and turn right (headed east). NOTE: this part of the highway is NOT a tollroad, yet, it does not become a tollroad until after the Hebron exit. Take 121 to Hebron, make a right onto Hebron, and head eat for about 2 1/2 miles until you reach Josey and Hebron.
